How to Get Police Clearance from Local Police Station

In order to get police clearance from a local police station, you must be prepared with all required documents. Here I am going to share the steps to obtain police clearance certificate from a local police station in Philippines as under;

#Step-1: Get Your Documents Ready

There are some important documents required for police clearance application, you should get them ready before going to a local police station to apply for it.

  • Philippine National ID Card or Health ID or Voter ID or Equivalent Identity Document.
  • Passport or Family Book or Utility Bill or Tenancy Contract or Equivalent Proof of Address.
  • Two Recent Passport Size Photographs.
  • An Active Email.
  • An Active Mobile Number.
  • A Valid Residency Visa [for Foreign Citizens (Expats)]

#Step-2: Visit Your Nearest Police Station

With all required documents, you need to visit your nearest police station. All local police stations across the country provide local police clearance service. So, you can find out a local police station near your place and visit it during its service hours to apply for police clearance in-person.

#Step-3: Fill up Police Clearance Application Form

After reaching the police station, you should go to the service desk and ask for a police clearance application form. The police employee may check your ID Card and then give you a blank application form as per your request.

You need to read and fill up the police clearance application form with all your personal details. Kindly provide all correct and accurate details to make the clearance application process faster and smoother.

#Step-4: Submit the Application with Documents

Once you complete filling up the police clearance application form, you should submit the application form with required documents at the service desk in the police station.

#Step-5: Pay the Police Clearance Fee

When you submit the application form, the police employee will request for payment of police clearance application fee. You can pay the fee by cash or a credit card or any payment method available at the police station.

Note: The people of determination (physically challenged) are not required to pay the fee but they have to attach a valid disability certificate with their police clearance application form to get exemption from the fee.

#Step-6: Wait for Release of Police Clearance

After completion of fee payment, the police employee will check and verify your application form, photos and documents carefully. Then the police employee will check the local criminal records to find out if you have any record in the past.

During the document verification and criminal record checking process, you have to keep patience. The police employee may ask you to wait for a few minutes in the police station or request you to visit the police station again on the next day or in next 3-4 days.

The police employee will give you a unique reference number that you should note down as you will need it to collect your police clearance certificate on the date given by the police employee.

If the police employee finds something suspicious about you in their criminal records, they may ask for more documents for further verification. This rarely happens but you must be prepared for it in case it happens with you.

#Step-7: Collect Your Police Clearance Certificate

You need to visit the same police station on the given date to collect your police clearance certificate. Just go to the police station, meet the police employee at service desk and provide your application reference number.

The police employee will find your police clearance certificate and hand it over to you. You can also request for a digital copy of the clearance certificate, they can send it on your email and you can use it digitally as a valid document whenever required.
